There’s something special about Dorking. It’s in the independent shops on the High Street, the cafés where everyone seems to know your name, and the events that bring the whole town out together. Supporting all of that is what Friends of Dorking is about, and now we have a brand new website to help us do it.
Why a new website?
As our events and community projects have grown, so has the need for one place where everyone can find out what’s going on. Whether you’re a local resident looking for something to do at the weekend, a business owner keen to get involved, or someone who’d like to volunteer, we wanted to make it as easy as possible to connect with us.
Our new site does exactly that. You’ll find our upcoming events, the latest news from around town, and all the ways you can support Dorking’s local businesses, all in one place and easy to use on your phone, tablet or computer.
Built right here in Dorking
When it came to choosing who would build our new website, it felt right to keep it local. We’re hugely grateful to Wearewood Digital, a web design agency based here in Dorking, for designing and building the site.
Working with a team who live and work in the town has made all the difference. They understood what Friends of Dorking stands for from day one and created a website that feels true to our community. It’s a good example of what we champion every day: local businesses supporting each other and making the town a better place for everyone.
What’s next?
This website is only the beginning. Over the coming months we’ll be sharing regular updates on our events, stories about the local businesses that make Dorking tick, and news about how our community is coming together. Keep an eye on this blog, as there’s plenty more to come.
Get involved
If you’ve ever thought about getting involved with Friends of Dorking, now’s the perfect time. Whether it’s lending a hand at an event, spreading the word about a local business, or simply coming along and enjoying what the town has to offer, every bit of support helps.
Take a look around the new site, bookmark it, and follow us on [social media links] to stay up to date. And if you have ideas, feedback or just want to say hello, we’d love to hear from you. Get in touch here.
Here’s to supporting local, together.
